"I just can't study" exclaims resident on fifth 'self care' break of day

Residents are left bewildered after a usually non-studious resident has once again been unable to the capture the motivation required to complete their pressing work - opting for taking care of themselves instead.

“Yeah I just think it’s about balance y’know” says the anonymous resident as they sip their third $4 flat white of the day. “I don’t think stressing yourself out is really healthy. I just take breaks when I need them”. The resident refused to comment on the fact that they have 3 assessments this week and are yet to touch any of them, arguing they need a study break, despite being yet to actually open their computer.

The concept of ‘self care’ always seems to experience a resurgence around pressing times - whether it be buying unnecessary things, cleaning their room daily, or spending 45 minutes making a checklist for things that don’t actually require a checklist. One anonymous contributor said that maybe the key is to just remain organised and stay on top of things during the term to reduce stress at assessment time - but this probably isn’t correct.
