Recycle ANUSA ticket launches, featuring fresh faces from the 2017, 2016 and 2015 campaigns
The ANU student body is currently recovering from the shockwaves of a controversial development in the ANU Students’ Association election, following the launch of a groundbreaking new platform policy under new ticket Recycle ANUSA.
Led by incumbent Social Officer and seventh-year law student Simon Green, Recycle ANUSA has put forward a never-before-seen platform, with aims to overhaul the monotony of past administrations.
“In the past, ANUSA has very readily become an insular club with little to no power to support student interests,” Green told The Daley Mail in a public statement last Wednesday.
“We want to prove to the ANU student body that we’re more than just buzzwords and BNOCs. It’s time to Reboot, Reform, Review ANUSA.”
“From our extensive community engagement initiatives, we know that the top student concerns are construction and student fees. In past years, this has been completely out of ANUSA’s control, but that’s exactly what our revamped ticket is targeting.”
“This year, we’re finally going to cut through all that red tape. New logo, new ANUSA.”
According to political analyst Michael Lane, the ticket is expected to fare well against politically-unaffiliated Incinerate ANUSA, citing an already-positive response to the ticket’s never-before-seen platform.
When contacted by the Daley Mail, Lane also noted an unusual volume of high-calibre General Representatives.
“The election may not be enough to tease out the very strongest candidates this year,” Lane said, indicating plans for the final gen rep selection to occur by a fight to the death in Scholars’ House. Those unable to access the venue using their student cards will be automatically disqualified from the election.
Labor and LNP tickets, Sieze ANUSA and Deregulate ANUSA respectively, have declined to comment at this stage, though the former has allegedly led a push to permit mid-term by-elections for all ANUSA representatives, after the validity of Deregulate social officer candidate Heather Rothemburg’s purported LAWS2015 medal was called into question.
